COMBAT
コンバット
Here on Terminus, we use a simplified dice-ruled combat system to resolve most player-versus-player and player-versus-non-player character combat. It is simple to follow once one gets in the hang of it, and can even turn out to be fun and interesting. However, freeform combat is still permitted if both parties agree on it. Though if there is an argument in a freeform battle that is brought to staff, the combat system will be enforced to determine a clear winner.
1 First, before combat begins, each character involved rolls a single die along with their post to determine initiative. The character that rolls the highest goes first, and the character that rolls lowest goes last. This effectively determines the posting order of the thread from there-on out as well.
2 The player that goes first now posts their actions. They can choose to use a basic attack or a spell or command skill, though they can only choose one of these. At the end of this post, the attacker rolls a die to determine the effectiveness of their attack.
*reminder: Your character receives a modifier along with their attack roll. This is presented alongside the roll as +X and is added to the final roll after the post is made. This is determined from their equipment if a basic attack is used, and the modifier provided if a command skill or spell is used. Your character also gets a second modifier equal to their level, which is added to your final modifier.
*example: A level 5 character with a +2 sword would have an attack modifier of +7 with every basic attack.
3 The character who rolled second now completes the actions listed in step 2. If there are any other characters or enemies involved, each player must choose a target at the end of the post as well.
4 The character that rolled the lowest after modifiers have been applied loses the conflict, and loses one point of life as a result.
*reminder: A level 1 character begins with three points of life. They gain an additional point of life at level 10, level 20, level 30, level 40, level 50, level 60, level 70, level 80, level 90, and level 100.
5 The battle then continues until there is only one party left standing. A player can choose to run from battle, but will automatically roll a zero for that post and as a result will lose a point of life if another party chooses to attack them. Event battles cannot be ran from.
